The Alder House
The Alder House is a self-initiated concept: a full website for an imaginary boutique hotel in the Lake District. I built it to show what a hospitality site can feel like when design, speed and search are all taken seriously.
- My role
- Design, Development, SEO
- Focus
- Concept build, Hospitality, Accessibility
- Built with
- A custom static site builder written in Python: no framework and no dependencies.

What I built
- Six individual room pages with galleries, plus dining, an illustrated area guide and a journal with articles.
- A booking flow demo, from availability search through to a mock summary and confirmation.
- Accessibility basics throughout, with a dedicated accessibility statement.
- A responsive layout that works from a phone to a large desktop.
How SEO was handled
- Unique titles and descriptions on every page.
- Canonical tags and social sharing tags.
- Structured data, a generated sitemap and clean URLs.
This is a concept project, not a real hotel. All rooms, rates and reviews are placeholder content.
